Dr. Enzo Favoino leads the Department on Composting and Integrated Waste Management (CIWM) with Scuola Agraria del Parco di Monza. He and his team have helped many governmental institutions and local authorities to conduct research, advise on legislation, plan and implement municipal waste management schemes, and evaluate mechanical/biological treatment (MBT) facilities, with a particular reference to options for the management of commercial and residential sources of biowaste.
Frequently invited as a technical expert for meetings and workshops, Dr. Favoino participates on the European Commission’s Sustainable Waste Management and Source Separation regulatory group. He is a co-founder and member of the Board of ECN-European Compost Network. Since 2004, he has served as the Chair of the Working Group on Biological Treatment for ISWA – the International Solid Waste Association. In this capacity, Dr. Favoino leads training programs in various developing and developed countries to encourage best waste management practices and alternatives for biowaste handling.
